Iterative Search

Privacy Policy

September 14, 2020

Iterative Search recognizes that privacy is extremely important. Therefore, we do not record a user’s browsing history except for the pages that you flag, highlight, or annotate. Our servers are located in the United States of America.

Information We Collect

Iterative Search collects email addresses when you register for our service or otherwise voluntarily provide such information. For example, when you use the contact form to ask a question.  We do not collect any personal information about the user.

Iterative Search does collect log type information to better serve our customers. These include the URL, IP address, browser type, language, and the date and time of your activity. This information is used to help the user begin where they left off and identify the last time they worked on their research.

If the user Flags a page, Iterative Search will connect that URL to the Flag to help the user manage their research for retrieval later during the session or at a later date.

If you choose to add notes to any page, Iterative Search logs those notes so that we may keep track and manage your research.

All of your research will be kept private unless you decide it share it with others by saving your research and forwarding onto another user who may open the search using the Iterative Search interface and the recipients account (if a registered user).

Use

Log information is mainly used for analytics to understand our customers and keep our service efficient and available.

We may use your Flags, Highlights and Notes to help suggest additional areas that the user might find helpful in expanding their research.

No personal information will be used when suggesting additional areas of interest, only the information that is provided within the specific research workspace.

Except as otherwise described in this privacy statement, Iterative Search will not disclose information users store in the servers to any third party unless we believe that disclosure is necessary: (1) to conform to legal requirements or to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other legal process received by Iterative Search, whether or not a response is required by applicable law; (2) to enforce the Iterative Search Terms of Use Agreement or to protect our rights; or (3) to protect the safety of members of the public and users of the service. Iterative Search reserves the right to transfer personal information to a successor in interest that acquires rights to that information as a result of the sale of Iterative Search or substantially all of its assets to that successor in interest.

Security

Iterative Search member accounts are secured by member-created passwords. Iterative Search takes precautions to insure that member account information is kept private. We use reasonable measures to protect member information that is stored within our database, and we restrict access to member information to those employees who need access to perform their job functions, such as our customer service personnel and technical staff. Please note that we cannot guarantee the security of member account information. Unauthorized entry or use, hardware or software failure, and other factors may compromise the security of member information at any time.

Changes in Our Privacy Policy

From time to time we may make changes to our privacy policy. If we make changes, we will post them on our site to make users aware of what the changes are so users will always be aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and when we may disclose it. A User is bound by any minor changes to the policy when she or he uses the site after those changes have been posted If, however, we are going to use users’ personally identifiable information in a manner materially different from that stated at the time of collection we will notify by posting a notice on our Web site for 30 days.
